A Prayer During Economic Insecurity

A post that I'm going to blatantly rip off from Mike Cope, but it's one that I think it especially important during this time as we realize that putting our hope in our savings and investments might have been misplaced:

We remember, Lord, that Jesus told one of the Seven Churches that they appeared to be rich but that they were actually poor. They needed his wealth so they wouldn’t be poor; they needed his clothes so they wouldn’t be naked; they needed his salve so they wouldn’t be blind.

We also remember that he told another of the churches that while they appeared to be impoverished they were actually rich. Their wealth wasn’t financial; it was much more valuable.

In these uncertain economic times, help us proclaim again through our words and our lives:

- that some trust in chariots, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God;

- that some trust in nations, governments, and politicians, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God;

- that some trust in retirement funds, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.

And so, O Lord, we join our voices with those of our brothers and sisters from many nations and many languages:

Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
Forgive us debts as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and glory forever.
Amenn

And certainly don't trust in Barack Obama!

or John McCain, Chris.

Or Rush Limbaugh.

I'm gonna be blunt. Until you can learn to be an adult when commenting on people's blogs. You need to shut up.

Justin:

Wasn't it you who said Obama knew about legalizing theft from people or are their two people named Justin?

There are many people named Justin.

It was me. But that was completely irrelevant to this post.

You have a tendency to start inflamatory comment wars, and I'm just saying stop. Every time you post, you hurt your position. I'm not voting for John McCain, or Barack Obama. In fact, I'm not voting at all. The point of Phil's post was that we need to trust God, not men. Why must you throw BO in the mix? Do you not trust that God will provide, even with Barack Obama, or Hitler, or anyone else. It doesn't matter how bad the situation gets, we must trust God.

But like I said, my response to you was merely to stop. If you want to have conversation with people, that's fine. But its clear that that is not your m.o. You want to stir up things. If you want to do that... go to the daily kos or free republic. Plenty of people that enjoy your type of "conversation".

We like to discuss things in a relevant, loving way here. Partisan politics take a back seat.

People can talk however they want to on my blog. Typically that tends to show their perspectives, biases, and personalities.

For good and bad.
