Connor's Curse

I've been playing Mr. Mom the last couple of days. Sheryl came down with a little bug of some sorts and so I've been taking care of her. I was pretty bummed because I didn't work the tech booth on Sunday and was looking forward to sitting with her.

Monday night was a long one. I got home and basically had to start Kinsey on her homework that we didn't do last week. She wasn't as excited about it as we might have wished and did her little stalling techniques that frustrate me immensely. While she was doing that, I made our supper and after eating it, fed Connor his cereal. I then gave Kinsey her bath and put her to bed. I then did the dishes and came downstairs to do the laundry... Long night.

Anyway, to Connor's curse. Below are pictures of me at six months. Once again, when Mom showed them to me, I would have sworn they were him. Well, I guess he'll have a good idea of what he'll look like at 35.

Phil,
At another's behest, I've been reading your blog today. I've covered 3-4 months' worth. In fairness, I couldn't ever blog - I'm a bit squeezed for time and oddly, in my own way, far too private to do it - so my aversion to this medium is not unexpected. What I've found was a depth of thought and quality of read I was expecting, yet had those expectations exceeded in many ways (all good ones).

Thanks for putting yourself out here in the way you do, openly and honestly. I look forward to reading from time to time and enjoying it as much as I do today. Also, I don't take the chances I get to thank you personally, but I have been remiss in not letting you know that I appreciate the time and effort you give to make my family's Sundays what they are. Servanthood isn't something that comes naturally, and I fight it more than most, other than volunteering to hit 10th (which is probably where I belong, anyway, so that's not exactly sacrificing).

I was particularly moved and interested by your tale of the 30 minutes and the conversation generated by the "experiment" you conducted. I've got my own views on that which I'd be interested in discussing with you at some point, but in short, I think OCCC can be a place where some people are welcomed to plug in, while others have to inflict themselves on the body there just to keep their heads above water. It hurts me to watch the ones who drown and wash out because someone isn't giving them 2-3 minutes a week of attention and care.

Please continue the good work you do, both here and at the building, and may God bless you in both of those good works.

Wow. That first one, especially. Wow.

Hope Sheryl's feeling better. I looked to try to catch y'all on Sunday, but you got out of there before I found you.
