A Loss

The former student of mine, Will ClenDening, died in a motorcycle accident this last weekend. He was the student that I wrote about in January who had returned my name plate to me.

Please think of his family and offer a prayer for them.

I was a friend of Will's and he was in a program that recommends making amends for harm done to others. I can't tell you how gratified I was to hear not only that he was working his program but that the positive effects had borne fruit. I am also the mother of a young man who is simlarly coming out of the cocoon of adolescent rebellion into a strong, sweet maturity. Will was a good man, loved by many, and all of his friends are remembering his mother in particular during this tough time.

The dear woman and friend who left the Anonymous comment on 6/20/06 about Will, died herself recently and she and we often remembered Will fondly. Near the end of her life we would read Mark 2:1-6, as it reminded us of the importance of friends. I am so grateful for these two friends, and I'm so grateful for your post about you, Will, and the nameplate -- its a story I have returned to several time over the last three years. I remember Will and I talking about it.
