Didn't help me much because I don't even know what modern and post-modern mean.

If emergent means emerging out of my Christian immaturity and into a more mature, deeper understanding of discipleship, then I would say I am emerging (not emergent; still have a long ways to go).

Justin: Phil is right on with the advice to find out what concerns someone has and having open discourse. Often they will talk themselves completely out of any reservations they have formed based on ill-informed assumptions.

TonyTony Arnoldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05497055762329338990noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6821288.post-1140635107059113762006-02-22T15:05:00.000-04:002006-02-22T15:05:00.000-04:00Tony, you can define Emergent about as well as you...Tony, you can define Emergent about as well as you can define "Church of Christ."

I'll let you decide if that's a good or bad thing.

I wrote on the EC a while ago, that I'm pretty sure you remember, but here it is again.Philhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11540149196113374329noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6821288.post-1140631677670895102006-02-22T14:07:00.000-04:002006-02-22T14:07:00.000-04:00Emergent. Labeling rarely works well.

TonyTony Arnoldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05497055762329338990noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6821288.post-1140621595941611362006-02-22T11:19:00.000-04:002006-02-22T11:19:00.000-04:00Honestly, I don't come across it much. Maybe because most people I come in contact with don't know much about it or agree with a lot of its pursuits.

Am I fully sold on Emergent? No. There are things I'm not sure of within that conversation. But much like Restorationism, I try to take the good things from it and cull through what I don't really agree with. I mean, I do the same at Otter Creek.

I guess the best way to deal with people is to find out what they have a problem with and converse about it. You might figure out some stuff you didn't know and the other person might as well.

That's just my thoughts.Philhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11540149196113374329noreply@blogger.com
